Cadaqués is a world famous spot for diving.
Most of the dives take place around the Cap de Creus, which is Catalunya´s first nature park that encompasses both land and sea. The Cap de Creus coastline is dotted with secluded bays, rocky cliffs and small islands and is a divers´ paradise thanks to the variety of the sea life and the water visibility.
The Cap’s biological variety, the water quality and the richness of the underwater landscape and its very good state make it a true jewel. The whole of the park measures 13.860 hectares, of which just over 10,000 are on land and 3.000 hectares at sea.
The most famous diving outfit in Cadaqués is the Diving Centre Es Caials run by José Lluis and his Dutch wife Desiré. José has published a book about his experiences in the area: “Parc Natural Cap de Creus, 30 Iterinaris Submarins (30 diving experiences)”
The diving base boat is around the headland, near the bay of Port Lligat, (where Salvador Dalí used to live).
Dives take place around the Cap de Creus.
The diving boat takes up to 17 people and the centre can arrange other boats for larger groups.
New divers and intermediate divers are welcome and most of the usual courses are covered right up to Dive Master and night diving trips are available if you have the right qualifications.
How to get There:
The diving centre is easy to get to and has parking for clients. Follow the signs to “Casa Dalí”, and look out for the sign that points to Sol Ixent (a bar/restaurant). Drive toward the sea.
When yo get to the restaurant follow signs to the “Diving Centre Es Caials” .
